My A+ Sonnet
The Blacksmith and the Dancer
Austin Fish
The blacksmith and the dancer sat down they did one day,
The blacksmith sat with all his grime, this blacksmith who was Earl,
The dancer raised his glass, this dancer who was gay,
They raised their voices high, then went to woo a girl.
The blacksmith made some trinkets and gave them to his sweet,
While the dancer did the Cha-cha, and danced her up and down,
But the blacksmith could not dance, and he stumbled on his feet,
And the dancer, oh the poor dancer fanned flames that burned him brown.
They found each other that night, both in circumstances dire,
And asked for help, from one another, each other for a chance,
The dancer who was burned, for major help with fire,
And the blacksmith for just one simple dance.
They worked through the night, at the blacksmith’s homely home,
The dancer taught the square dance, and finally it was learned,
And the blacksmith showed him how to keep it safe, and how to make a comb,
Then parting ways to try their skills, the skills that they had earned
The morn brought many things and then they did discover,
That their girl the one they loved, had fallen for another.
